Best time to visit
Specially, summer time is very much suitable for Tiger lovers when Tigers do come near to water bodies to beat the heat. However, November to May is the best time to visit and during winters the weather remains too cold here, hence one should carry proper woolen and winter clothes to prevent from freezing cold.
Opening & closing period
It is rainy period from June to September, hence, from 15th June onwards the Dhikala safari zone remains close for visitors until 14th of November every year. Starting from 15th November onwards it is open for day visit safari and night stay as well inside the Dhikala forest lodge.
Types of safari
Jeep safari– Jeep safari is one way to get around inside the forest area but jeep safari is only available for those tourists who book government run forest lodges inside Dhikala i.e Sultan, Gairal, Sarpduli or Dhikala. People staying at private resorts/hotels can not opt for jeep safari inside the Dhikala area.
Canter safari– Canter safari booking at Dhikala Jim Corbett is available for every tourist. In a day safari is conducted twice, one is morning and again in afternoon shift. Total 4-4 canters are run during each shift.
Canter is a 16 seater mini bus which is covered from the top but open from sides. This is how a canter looks like.
Documents required to make a booking at Dhikala Jim Corbett and the Cost of safari
A valid Id proof is required for making a booking here. You can provide any of the document from (Pan card, Aadhar, Voter ID, License, Government ID or Passport). Children can provide school or institutional admit cards as well.
The cost for the canter safari is INR 1300 Per person for Indian tourists.
During summer morning safari starts at 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM during winters.
During summer afternoon safari starts at 1:00 PM and 11:30 AM during winters.
Duration of the canter safari is approximately 4 hours to 5 hours from Ramnagar to Ramnagar.
There are 2 pick up points, one is Ramnagar and another is Dhangarhi gate (which is entry point of Dhikala safari zone).
You must make your booking at-least 20 days prior of the safari date in order to avoid non-availability in most of the cases.
If you are planning for a festival date or long weekend, you must make a booking at-least 30 days prior of the safari actual date.
Jim Corbett national park remains closed on Holi (Color) festival.
You need to provide valid ID proof for booking (Pan card, Aadhar, Voter ID, License and Passport etc)
You should also carry the ID proof in person while going for safari.
Forest deparment does not allow pets inside the safari zone.
Binoculars and good quality camera are good to go while on safari.
No charge for children upto 5 years.
Maximum of 6 adults and 2 children (below 12 years) can travel in one permit.
Suggestible to book a resort near Dhikuli, Mohaan or Marchula if opting for Dhikala.
Dhikala main campus has a canteen facility where you have can snacks or breakfast/lunch during safari.
